One for Halloween or a future party that calls for it.

Look Sir, Droids

One of the best ads I've seen using Star Wars IP, this Currys PC World effort raises the bar with some great soundtrack/sfx selections and clever parody scenes (opening the store, robot hoover, flashgun etc).

Thanks to Craig for posting.

Perfume Commercials

Some think they're pretentious, some think they're a total waste of money; I however, love a good perfume TV ad. There's a quality contained within them I find absolutely fascinating.

Usual ingredients include a maverick director, model or celebrity, highly considered lighting, carefully chosen soundtrack and a sort of very very short film narrative; usually surrealist or mythology based in nature.

I imagine the brief for such a job to be along the lines of..."okay, we're selling a small bottle of nice smelling liquid. Make the ad big, artistic, extremely pretty, contain some sort of story, sound amazing and by the way, money is no object".

Here's a gorgeous example of such an ad by music director Chris Cunningham (who directed the Aphex Twin 'Come To Daddy' video). It has all the elements I seek in a good perfume TV commercial. Might sound strange, but there's something about this one that I adore! Anyway see what you think, and check out the final few seconds with the dress kaleidoscope.

Pillman

A little illustration I sneaked into an article about the pharma 'cool chain' at work this week. Slowly turninig my work into a farce.

Solid Rocket Boosters

Just a camera mounted to a solid rocket booster from launch to splash down. Amazing images. Things to watch out for are the actual booster separation, the other solid rocket burning out in the distance and the parachutes on splash down.

Action starts from about 1 minute 55.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Been a while since my last post, mainly due to man-cold issues and an insane workload. Anyway, taking my mind of it by trying to get back into some gaming. Gran Turismo 5 is an essential purchase in the next few weeks, as is this game, Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Looks great and should provide more than a few intense online multiplayer nerd hours just like Modern Warfare 2 did.
